Hello,
We hope you're all enjoying the beginning of summer and getting some sun and relaxation! We may not be on the ice, but we still have some fun curling events happening this summer, so don't miss out!
Also, we want to wish Cale, Parker, Greg, and Mac good luck as they head to Windy City Curling later this month to play for a chance to represent the Midwest Curling Association at the 2026 USA Arena Curling National Championships. Good curling, guys!
Time running out to sign up for CedarSpiel 2026
The 2026 CedarSpiel will be Aug. 7-9. We hope to see you there. This is a wonderful chance if you haven't yet been to a bonspiel!
We must have 16 teams registered by July 1. Final registration deadline is July 24.
If you want to play but don't have a team, no worries! Sign up here. This link is for club members who do not have their own team. We will put teams together for club members from this list.
We also will be looking for volunteers throughout the weekend. Sign up on the various tabs of this form to help with ice prep, merchandise and raffle sales, and dinner prep/serving.
If you have any questions, please email Kari Kozak (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
Join us for annual CRC picnic
We have much to celebrate! Our Member Meeting & Picnic is scheduled for noon Saturday, July 18, at CRC President Phil Burian's home in the historic Brucemore district of Cedar Rapids. (Address will be sent before the date.)
Bring your family and significant others! Cedar Rapids Curling will provide the hamburgers, brats, buns, and utensils. We ask that you bring an appetizer, side, dish, or dessert to share. After eating and catching up, we will have a short member meeting to share club status and plans.
(You must be logged in to register.)
Share curling at CR Farmers Market
We are excited to announce that Cedar Rapids Curling will once again have a booth at the Cedar Rapids Farmers Market on Aug. 15.
We will have a tent with a table full of curling items for people to check out, balloons for the kids (and adults), and hopefully our street curling set so people can "throw a stone."
This will be a great time to hang out together and share our sport with our community outside the ice!
(You must be logged in to register.)
Volunteers needed for corporate event
We are hosting our first corporate event of the season from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27. Corporate events are one of the primary ways that Cedar Rapids Curling makes money, and we can't do it without volunteers! If you can help, we'd appreciate it. Even if you don't feel comfortable teaching, we always need people to help set up and herd rocks and help everyone have fun!

Save the date for Curl Jam

Curl Jame, a fundraising event for The Arc of East Central Iowa, will be back for its third year!
This year's event will be Friday, Oct. 9.
Businesses will make a large donation to the Arc in order to enter teams for a short learn-to-curl followed by a minispiel with three two-end games.
We need volunteers from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We know that it's a big ask to take time off work, but we have a sponsor for the ice rental, so 100% of the money raised will go to the Arc.
Reminder about league fees, membership fees, volunteer incentive
The Cedar Rapids Curling Board works hard every year to keep costs for members as low as possible and to spend their funds responsibly. However, costs continue to go up, including ice rates.
In order to deal with these increased costs, the CRC Board voted to raise league fees $3/night to $30.
We do not take these decisions lightly. This is only the second time in more than a decade that we have raised league fees.
Membership fees for the upcoming 2026-27 season will remain the same as last year, $125.
Last year we announced a volunteer discount to help offset league fee increases. This will continue next year. Members who volunteer at four events during the upcoming 2026-27 season will receive a discount during the 2027-28 season. To be counted as a volunteer at an event, you MUST sign up to volunteer on the website prior to the event. Some longer events will count as two events. We will indicate this on the sign-up page.
If you qualified for a volunteer discount for this upcoming season, you should have recieved an email May 15 with a discount code to use during league registration. To use the code, you must pay online.
